![]() Personally, I would just keep adding more uniquely-statted Qstaff Spears. What does it do that other options dont already offer? There is no 2H IC:Piercing weapon class right now, but is that enough to justify it? That extends to things like Spears not being Favored weapons for Paladins and stuff, too.ģ. If you introduce a new tree just to support spears, then you're locking players into both a very limited selection of weapons AND a very limited selection of build choices. Who would use it? Most trees are already channeled towards specific weapon types.there's only a limited number of them that are completely weapon-agnostic. There are none in the game, so you'd have to create several options across all level ranges to give Spear builds something to useĢ. It gets around all the problems of trying to introduce a completely novel weapon type.ġ. Whats wrong with having unique qstaves with completely different stats as the game's way to implement spears? I think we are long overdue for spears and halberds that arejust reskinned quarter staffs. None of the stuff I just wrote really matters but it would be neat if the art people got it right. I would immediately repurpose a character to use one. All the Cosmetic Armors with bear hands for Melee Fighters are flat out wrong.Īnyway, Spears would be fun. One thing I find very amusing about DDO is that characters wielding Daggers, a stabbing weapon, never actually stab.Īll our Melee Characters should be wearing Gloves or Gauntlets. Vexa is a large Rondel Dagger because that girl means business. They are what you use at grapple range against armored opponents once Swords and other weapons become bound. We should all have Rondel Daggers as secondary weapons. (That was a really fun scene, though.) Now I wonder how Romans hunted big Cats and Elephants. Even if you impale the animal, he runs you over and you die. Setting your single spear to receive the change of an Elephant or Tyrannosaur, a la 1,000,000 BC, seems useless to me. I wonder if 'set for charge' had some utility in that context, which would then have application against big Cats, medium Dinosaurs, and similar animals. I have never seen anything about hunting Boars with spears. The whole 'set for charge' thing was about mass spear blocks withstanding cavalry charges, not dueling. That is not to say people never swung from the middle, but that they preferred swinging from the end because it increased reach and leverage. Also, according to the manuals, Quarterstaves were wielded just like Spears, mostly held from one end, not swung from the middle. This is another thing most games get all wrong. Quarterstaves are excellent weapons against unarmored opponents and almost useless against people wearing armor. ![]() Most urban centers had strict rules against carrying spears and sidearms (swords), but everyone allowed people to carry a hefty walking stick. This technique comes from historic European martial arts training manuals of which there are many. Spear users would choke up on the shaft at times, but engagements began with the spear fully extended to achieve maximum stand off distance. Spears were gripped and wielded from the butt, not the center of the shaft, to achieve maximum reach. As a result, one on one duels between swords and spears usually came out in favor of the more skilled person. On the other, once a person with a sword got past the tip, the spear was useless. On the one hand, they gave the spear user a lot of reach. This is why they are called the weakest characters in RO because they are week against MVPs and in PVPs.For a while I watched a lot of Historic European Martial Arts videos about using various weapons. Their main purpose is speed and no defense is needed as it is a waste of stats. With the gospel skill they too can reach a high speed of 190. The best thing is they can reach to the AGI lord knight's speed of 190 with doppelganger card. ![]() Their speed reach a maximum amount of 186 with no AGI and bless and 188 with AGI and bless. Introduction to spear type crusader/paladin and cons/pros: Spear crusaders and paladins are one of the fastest characters in RO. I also have found out that spear paladins are considered so called noobs of RO, this is also discuss in this faq on section 11, so lets begin the faq. There are a total of two to three types of spear paladins and crusaders don't have much skill points. The stats of the spear crusader and paladin have been tested both in original servers and low rated private servers. Introduction: Ever since the faq is deleted from game-faqs, I have realize maple mesos that the previous faq I wrote have too many mistakes to correct and it is a waste of time, so I have rewritten the whole thing.
